Big Stuffs

Nandan here. Just wanted to keep you guys updated, as usual there’s silence on the blog because we’ve got some exciting stuff in the pipeline. I can’t give you too many details yet, suffice to say it will involve the participation of everyone cool in Olympia, the dates June 5th and June 11th, pizza, poems, music, film, sculpture, photography, painting, ceramics, more music, and dancing…

Shhh…

Nandan here. I just wanted to let everyone know that two days ago, May 21st, was Zach’s birthday. He told me in an important meeting a few days ago that all he wants in terms of presents is for people to donate money to the film, only he’s too ashamed to ask for it himself. I figured I’d do him this super secret favor by spreading the word for him. So please, if you haven’t already gotten him a gift, make his birthday wish come true…just don’t tell him I told you. Thanks.

Zach here. I just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow, May 5th, is Nandan’s birthday. He told me in an important meeting this afternoon that all he wants in terms of presents is for people to donate money to the film, only he’s too ashamed to ask for it himself. I figured I’d do him this super secret favor by spreading the word for him. So please, make his birthday wish come true…just don’t tell him I told you. Thanks.

Searching for Sonny

Zach here. We recently found out about ANOTHER recent NYU grad who is ALSO making a feature film with the SAME handsome camera. It looks pretty slick. Check out the film’s website at http://www.searchingforsonny.com and please don’t lose any stock in us for the fact that it’s way slicker than ours.

Meanwhile, keep watching our fundraising trailer over and over. I know I will!

At Last

Zach here. Nandan and I just got back from a party at Skateland where we DJ’d for tips and made out like bandits with one hundred dollars, our most epic come-up to date. We also settled the conflict that has been unfolding here on this blog and everything is back to normal between us (which isn’t great, but it’s workable).

Anyway, the big news we’ve been alluding to is the release of our official fundraising trailer. It’s up on our YouTube channel as of this afternoon. Check it out.

Zach here. I found Nandan’s last post somewhat misleading, and thought I’d take a moment to set the record straight.

I’m not a “long-haired hooligan”, I’m a cineaste. Furthermore, I’ve never once chosen to “adopt a strong jersey accent”. It’s a New York accent, and I acquired it during my years studying cinema in lower Manhattan. Perhaps you’d like me to make fun of you for something you can’t help?

While Nandan’s account is more or less accurate, his lack of access to my thought process misconstrues the entire situation. Yes, there was a young woman sitting alone at the bar. And yes, I did decide to approach her, but only because I found her haunted, searching gaze strikingly similar to that of Delphine Seyrig in Alain Resnais’ L’année derniére á Marienbad and thought that the observation might tickle her. Perhaps she’d even compare me to leading man Giorgio Albertazzi (it wouldn’t be the first time). In any case, I headed for the bar and did in fact stop short just three feet away, but not of fear or childish jitters as Nandan’s post implies, but because upon closer inspection it became screamingly obvious that she was more of a Bergman gal. What Nandan perceived as a giggling fit actually consisted of deep, heaving sobs over the loss of the great master, a wound still less than two years fresh.

delphine-seyrig

But all of this is beside the point. Nandan’s post was a classic, clear-cut case of misdirection. How does my crippling cinephilia in any way detract from the gravity of his blunder? Whatever. I’ll post that big news we keep mentioning once the two of us are on speaking terms again.

on the topic of Competence

Nandan here. Yes I forgot our video camera under a bench in a karaoke/pizza bar in Tacoma. And yes that really is unforgivable. But I decided there were some events of the night worth mentioning that led up to my forgetfulness at Puget Sound Pizza, so here is my account of that fateful night:

It had been a long night at PSP, and although there had been many a good song sang, the night was primarily dominated by a certain long-haired hooligan who decided his best bet for feminine company would be to adopt a strong jersey-accent and cry out “SUP GIRL?!?!?!” at every chance he could get.

After exiting the bar at closing time, I quickly realized that Zach and his good friend Danny were no where to be seen. A quick return to the dance floor confirmed the delay: Zach and Danny were huddle against a wall conspicuously looking at a single lady sitting alone at the bar with an all-business skirt and jacket. After several minutes of high-school-dance-encouragement from his buddy, Zach decided he was ready to make a move. Keep in mind the characters already mentioned are pretty much the only people in the entire establishment right now. Zach boldly walks right across the floor in a bee-line for the girl until he decides about 3 feet from her face that it’s best to do an immediate about-face and freeze.

At this point there isn’t much left for our poor hero except to look at his friends and giggle for several long, uncomfortable minutes, before Danny decides it’s best to save the situation by walking up to the damsel who caused all this ruckus and introducing her to our fine young lover.

I’m sorry to report she wasn’t interested.

Exciting news coming soon… (about the film, not Zach’s love life.)

Where am I?
