Rob here. It’s been awhile.

I’m typing this “guestblog” (oh those words sting!) from the desktop of my new cubicle. I’m high above Broadway way down and I got a beautiful view of lady liberty this morning, boys and girls. It’s back to work for me. It’s my first step in breaking out of what at times felt like a self-imposed exile, but was probably just laziness.

It’s been almost a month since we’ve gotten any news out of this blog. But it has also been a minute since I’ve heard personally from any of my friends or colleagues out in Detroit. In fact there’s been some rumors that Nandan has put a blackout on all and any information regarding Newhard Entertainment from leaving the city. I’ve Pieced together this blog from scraps of text messages, facebook posts, garbled and paniced voicemails and wild, unconfirmed rumors.

On November 13, Zach ordered everyone to get their “motherfucking roll on.” No word on whether or not this happened before or after Zach and Jesse became confirmed friends on facebook.

On November 14, Sophia Takal announced that she was driving to Detroit. Sam Baumel, a long-time friend, film-making and life partner of mine, accompanied her on the drive. On their drive they would discuss many things. They discussed the upcoming shoot, their hopes, their fears and they talked about me.

I raked leaves at my grandmothers as they talked.

And then I returned to New York.

Later Nandan picked them up around Toledo.

Sophia Videochatted me from the Detroit medical center the next day.

Nandan soon decided that if they were going to finish this project, a strict schedule of 15 hour days was going to have to be enforced. He moved the production offices from Ivan’s house to its new home at the boneyard, a former frat house for Wayne State U.

Tensions have been strained on set. Zach often refused to come to set for “personal reasons.” And Mike “Spritzer” Sweeney, tried to incite a mutiny based on his problems with Nandan’s catering.

Sophia returned to New York on the 22? 23? (November 22, 2010 marking the 47th anniversary of the Kennedy Assassination.) and she refused to discuss anything that happened in Detroit, her comment being that the city in question was “freaky deaky.”

I spent the better part of two weeks trying to get in contact with Nandan or Zach. I wanted to know if it still made sense for me to go out there. And I missed my bros. But I heard nothing back.

Untill I recieved a phone call from Zach, but Sam Baumel was the man on the other end of the phone. And he had a serious question to ask me. Something about toothpaste… But I got through to Nandan.

I don’t think I’m going to Detroit.

While talking to my friends on the phone and listening to them laugh in background, I began to feel a deep sense of loss. Not jealousy. Loss.

I had missed out on this grand adventure and it was all my fault.

[ZACH’S NOTE: THERE IS NO BLACKOUT ON NEWHARD RELATED INFO. THIS IS NOT AVEX HONOLULU STUDIOS AND WE ARE NOT RECORDING MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY. I’M PRODUCING A STILLS ROUNDUP TO BE RELEASED SOON.]
