Zach here. I got a couple items.

Last week we had our first rehearsal as well as a wardrobe selection session for The International Sign for Choking. Nandan took a picture.

It went well. A lot of things are falling into place more nicely than I ever could have hoped for. But like I always say: the nicer they fall into place, the more devastatingly they crumble out of place. We’ll see. A couple bits of bonus news include the fact that Bummer Summer‘s Latin American distributor is arranging for some theatrical action while we’re in town, and that we’ll all be going to see Gabi on the Roof in July as part of our wrap party at the 13th annual BAFICI, an amazing festival with (apparently) amazing taste. I’m very excited to get down there in just ONE WEEK FROM TODAY. At the end of the day, here’s why:

The only setback so far was when leading lady Sophia (pictured above) requested a mid-shoot leave of absence for reasons of TOP SECRECY. At first I was hesitant, but following an intense gchat argument in which she said “YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO SHOOT WITH OUT ME YOU HAVE TO GO TO AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CITY IT WILL BE FINE IF IM GONE” I conceded. Look out for the breathtakingly exciting news related to this leave of absence in a few weeks.

Finally, I had my first New England experience this weekend with a screening of Bummer Summer at the Flyrock Records studio in Dover, NH. I wouldn’t normally choose to screen the movie to a room full of people there to get drunk and waiting to see live music, but my buddy Dan O’Brien invited me to come do it and I didn’t have any idea what to expect. Considering the circumstances, things went surprisingly well. And fortunately, the attractive and technologically savvy Jennifer Proescher was on hand to capture some audience reactions on her phone:

He also referred to me as an auteur. In context, he was passing me a joint as he said, “Yo the auteur’s gotta hit this!”
